AI Summary
Christine "Lady Bird" McPherson is a Catholic high school senior in Sacramento, California, navigating a turbulent relationship with her mother while dreaming of something bigger. She resents living on the wrong side of the tracks and feeling like an outsider, while her father quietly mediates family tensions and her mother loves her fiercely but clashes with her constantly.
My feelings, thoughts, and opinions
I love Greta Gerwig, such an inspiration for minorities working in this environment. However, I didn't love Lady Bird. I think I perhaps didn't understand it enough.
My take on the movie: A teen with mommy issues, with a mom with her own mommy issues, trying to navigate status and self-worth. I really wanted to see Lady Bird become successful. I feel the entire storyline of the movie could've been shown in 20 minutes, and the rest of the movie it would be working towards who she would become and how she would navigate life. Therefor I don't understand the golden globe, but who am I to judge that. Still a good debut for Greta.
